Sabarimala Temple Opening & Closing Dates:
Kochi: The Sabarimala virtual Q(www.sabarimalaq.com) was aimed at helping devotees reach sannidhanam without waiting in the long queue usually formed at Pampa, but nearly half of those who booked the time slots failed to make use of the facility last season.
The reason: the devotees could not report at the counters concerned at Pampa on time.
“Out of the 15.26 lakh pilgrims who booked slots last time (2013-14), only 8.57 lakh utilized the facility (56 per cent). From the last season onwards, we insisted that devotes stick to the time slot allotted,” said an officer with the online portal.
This even as 12.69 lakh out of the 15.64 lakh devotees (81 per cent) who reserved time slots in the 2012-13 season availed of the special queue facility in www.sabarimalaq.com.
Sabarimala virtual Q is an online portal for devotees to book a slot on the separate queue maintained by the Kerala police www.sabarimalaq.com.
The system generates a fixed number of coupons for every hour and the devotees can plan to reach Pampa on the specified time and enter the queue without waiting.
“This time over, we will give the warning in the coupon itself and no excuses would be entertained,” the officer said.
The majority of pilgrims who avail of the online queue booking facility hail from Tamil Nadu (6.43 lakh last time), followed by Andhra Pradesh (3.85 lakh) while the local devotees come a distant third with 3.3 lakh.
Virtual queue line booking is starting from 10/10/2014 by the Kerala police department for the year 2014 -2015.
Sabarimala Virtual Queue online booking will be started from the second week of October 2014 for the Mandala Makaravilakku season 2014-15,here are the links for booking www.sabarimalaq.com

RUVANANTHAPURAM: The virtual queue system introduced by the state police at Sabarimala to help pilgrims have a hassle-free darshan will start functioning next week with a total of 11 counters.
According to ADGP (Modernization) Loknath Behera, who is in charge of the Virtual Queue – the computerized method, this year’s booking will start from October 11 or 12. “Earlier, the plan was to launch it on October 10, but due to certain procedural delays it will be on from October 11 or 12. Anyhow, almost all the procedures regarding the project are finished,” the ADGP told ‘Express’.
“From this year there will be 11 counters for the virtual queue system of which 10 counters will be at Pampa, including two counters nearby Pampa Ganapathi temple. There will be one facilitation counter near Sannidhanam,” he said.
We are planning to provide the service to a maximum of 60,000 devotees per day and we are expecting a minimum of around 15,000 pilgrims per day, the ADGP said. Devotoees have to notice the sabarimala temple dharshan dates which are given below.
Meanwhile, the plan for installing new surveillance cameras along the Vadasserikkara -Pampa stretch, which was earlier under consideration, has been dropped due to certain technical issues.
The ADGP said the initial plan to install new cameras along the Vadasserikkara-Pampa stretch was dropped due to unavailability of power.
“There is no proper electricity supply facility on that stretch for the functioning of the cameras. So, it will be difficult to connect the cameras on a single power line in order to coordinate their functioning. Cameras will be placed at Vadasserikkara area for monitoring. Around 30-40 cameras have also been placed between Pampa and Sannidhanam for surveillance,” Loknath Behera said.
